Celebrating Kindness and Community in Budleigh Salterton

On
Sunday, 28 September 2025, Budleigh Salterton came together at St Peter’s Church, followed by a reception in the Public Hall, to celebrate the incredible work of our town’s representatives, volunteers, and all those who make our community so special.
This year’s theme was kindness — recognising the compassion and generosity shown daily by so many in our town. Residents reflected on the past year, strengthened bonds, and looked ahead with mutual support.
Highlights included:

Steve Hitchcock and local young people sharing acts of kindness in schools and the young people's contributions to the conservation of our environment.

Mia Alligan and Launchpad providing food for those in need, supported by Budleigh Salterton Methodist Church

Gavin March and the Lions Club championing environmental protection

Sarah Coles and the Information Centre showing how the town cares for its residents
Town Mayor Cllr Penny Lewis, alongside His Majesty’s Deputy Lieutenant Deborah Hallett, also presented gifts of gratitude to retiring councillors, including Alderman Christine Channon, Mrs Caz Sismore-Hunt, and Mrs Lynda Evans. The town also remembered Mr Paul Jarvis, whose dedication will not be forgotten.
Rev Martin Jacques reminded us all that kindness is universal — it connects us, inspires us, and helps our community thrive.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributes to Budleigh Salterton — your kindness makes all the difference!
