East Devon Emerging Local Plan –
Second Regulation 19 Consultation.
BSTC welcomes the recognition within the revised Local Plan of concerns previously raised, particularly in relation to potential impacts on the Pebblebed Heaths. Amendments to several policies reflect this, including those relating to parking standards, habitat mitigation, and development allocations affecting the wider area. More information here
BSTC also welcomes the preparation of a Water Cycle Study as part of the evidence base supporting the Local Plan. However, the Town Council has formally raised concerns with the East Devon District Council Strategic Planning Committee regarding the omission of the Lime Kilns Pumping Station from the study and has requested that this is reviewed. This matter has been included as a key element of BSTC’s Regulation 19 response.
The Town Council will continue to engage constructively with East Devon District Council to ensure that Budleigh Salterton is appropriately considered within strategic planning decisions, particularly where these have long-term implications for infrastructure capacity and environmental protection.
Residents are reminded that the Second Regulation 19 Consultation closes at noon on Monday 26 January 2026.
