Speedwatch Coming to Budleigh Salterton - July 2026

Budleigh Salterton Town Council is pleased to announce that the first group of Speedwatch volunteers has successfully completed their training, marking an important step towards introducing this valuable community initiative locally.

The Town Council fully supports Speedwatch and recognises the important role it can play in improving road safety, raising awareness of speeding concerns, and encouraging drivers to consider the impact of their speed on local residents, pedestrians and other road users.

Speedwatch is a community-led initiative, and its continued success depends on the involvement and commitment of local volunteers. To establish and maintain an active Speedwatch group, the support of residents is essential.

Trained volunteers will soon begin operating within the community, helping to monitor vehicle speeds, promote safer driving behaviour, and work alongside residents to address local road safety concerns.

Budleigh Salterton Town Council would like to thank those who have already volunteered their time and supported the establishment of the group. However, more volunteers are needed to ensure Speedwatch can continue as an effective and sustainable initiative for the community.

Anyone interested in joining the Speedwatch team, finding out more information, or supporting this important project is encouraged to contact Cllr Alan Chaplin at:

Together, the community can help make local roads safer for everyone.
